I recall a time when my son was waiting for a Letter of Acceptance from universities he applied to. At the time, he thought it was already too late as his friends had confirmed their places.
So I encouraged him and said, “Son, when we think it is too late, God still has a plan for you. Sometimes trusting in God means being patient and letting Him work. It may be hard to do so, but it is necessary.”
I told him to keep on praying, because prayer requires persistence. Daniel waited three weeks to receive a vision from the Lord (Daniel 10:2), while Elijah’s prayer for rain took his servant seven trips to the mountain peak (1 Kings 18:44).
In the end, I praised God for the sound of abundant rain when it came; the Letter Of Acceptance for my son came in time for him to enter university! We may not know why prayer is sometimes delayed, but all we know is that God is moving on our behalf and His timing is always perfect. – Karen

I prayed that God would help me to adapt and not leave me alone, as there were so many things outside of our control. But after more than six months, I was able to fit into a cell group and complete my Level 3 Korean language program.
But the most earnest testimony is that I received a remote job offer from the UK. They found my resume on LinkedIn. I was thinking, God, you cannot be more real to me again! To be honest, I was aiming for a Korean multinational, but only He knows what’s best for me.
God opened a door from the UK to South Korea, which I would never have thought of. He reminded me that He performed all the miracles mentioned in the Bible and with the same power, He can do the same for us – His beloved children – today. This is how astounding our God is. – Jonathan

I obeyed and waited. True to His words, all three jobs did not materialise. By early December, I was anxious again. I said to God that my finances were running out in January and that surely He had to open a door for me. There was silence, but come Christmas week, I received a call from the same person about the 6-months project. God said to take it and I obeyed, feeling a deep sense of peace.
Come January I was working again, and money came into my bank account just as it hit zero by month-end. What timing! The Lord knew exactly what I needed and when I needed it. Today, I’m happily working in the same company and have been promoted multiple times in my six years there. The Lord sees the big picture and all I needed to do was to seek Him, practice being still, obey and trust. Amen! – Serene

But then came the series of delays, disappointments and frustrations. Companies got back saying they didn’t have any vacancies, or I didn’t make it past the interview. Seeing me disheartened, my mum advised me again, saying, ‘You should pray and surrender all your application to God. We can’t achieve anything on our own.’
At this lowest point in my life, I realised that I was doing things my way and had not proactively relied on God’s wisdom and strength. I then said a prayer and asked the Lord for an employment opportunity. A few weeks later, I got a call from a learning centre asking if I would like to teach Hospitality & Marketing. It was my major, but I had no teaching degree. I was very hesitant but agreed and went for the interview. Then I was called back for a second interview, and today, I have found a fulfilling career as a teacher.
I truly believe that God allowed my plans to be interrupted so that His divine will could be fulfilled in my life. It all began with that simple prayer and surrender to Him to take over. It’s Isaiah 55:8 that brings me the most comfort in this: ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. – Lavan
