My son accepted Christ in the US
Many times we pray for our family but we’re not sure if God will answer us. But He does so in ways we do not expect. My second son decided to pursue his studies in the US, and we had a lot of questions, doubts and financial challenges. So we prayed for God’s direction on this.

Amazingly, our boy was very clear and committed in his plan, and made all the preparations himself. That left us with only one thing: finance. We applied to withdraw our EPF retirement fund, but our son told us not to. He told us not to worry and said that he will find a way. For a 19-year-old to say that, we took it at face value and left it at that.

You see, he was always a mediocre student in high school and we never expected much from him. But for the past two years, he has been scoring 4.0 GPAs in the US. That was totally unexpected for us as parents!

During his time there, we saw God's hand upon his life. He even accepted Christ and got baptised within the first three months. We are so grateful for the foster family who took care of him when he first arrived in Arkansas. He is now doing an internship and pursuing his masters, but we are assured that God will continue to be with him. Glory to God! – Samantha

Faithful in following Him step by step

I became a Christian in 2017, and I’m the first and only one in my family of practising Buddhists. I remember writing an email to my dad to break the news, as I wasn’t sure my decision would be accepted well. True enough, my parents had a hard time processing it, and thought it was a phase for me. When I invited them for my baptism ceremony, they didn’t attend either. Fast forward to many years on, and God has indeed softened their hearts. My parents are more open and accepting now of the idea that I'm a Christian. I pray for them daily that they will one day accept Christ as their Saviour.

Recently, my mum cancelled her vaccination appointment as she got cold feet about the AstraZeneca jab. Then, she got anxious about not receiving another appointment. I told her to stop worrying, trust in God and asked if I could lay hands and pray for her. She nodded, so I prayed out loud and she said, “Amen.” The next morning, she received her vaccine appointment! It was the Sinovac jab that she wanted. She was overjoyed that God had answered her prayers. I trust that this miraculous incident will bring my parents closer to believing in God, and I trust in His perfect timing for their salvation. Amen! – Suet Ling

God answered my prayer to evangelise to others

God has heard my prayer for opportunities to evangelise. At church, a young businessman stepped into our Welcome Lounge, and that meeting in itself was an appointment arranged by God. My husband got talking to him and they found a lot in common, like coming from the same hometown in Sitiawan. The young businessman told us that he was searching for God and my husband invited him to an Alpha Course party. The man accepted with no hesitation at all, and he came with his wife and daughter.

By Session 10 of the course, he had accepted Christ! His wife was so excited that she re-dedicated her life to Jesus too. I thank God for the opportunity to spend all the hours with them at Alpha over 13 sessions and 13 Sundays. The testimony now is that a year later, this businessman has led six of his loved ones to Christ – his parents, sisters and brothers-in-law. He also testified on how he has stopped giving bribes and God has miraculously helped him to get his projects approved. Praise the Lord and Hallelujah! – Karen

Through prayer, God helped me know I’m worthy

Since I became a Christian many years ago, I’ve been reading God’s Word, serving in church and also serving in a Christian organization. But deep down in my heart, I hungered for real peace and love which I never really experienced. I struggled with an inferiority complex, always felt I was not worthy to be loved and constantly felt unqualified to serve God. All these made me teeter on the edge of depression and anxiety, though they were deeply suppressed.

Since MCO started in March 2020, I began to spend more quality time alone with God. Through prayer, God helped me to see myself, know myself better, acknowledge my shortcomings or “defects”, and accept that He loves me just as I am. I learnt that I am His daughter, I belong to Him, I’m worthy to be loved and I should not despise myself (Isaiah 43:1). I’m just thankful to God for the privilege of prayer and that I can connect with him day-by-day through prayer. – Yee
